Storytime with LOFE: Leslei Monigold

LOFE family, meet Leslei. She is a University of North Texas student currently serving in her third year as a Combat Engineer (Bravo 12) in the Army National Guard. She is also an avid soccer fan and a part of a soccer club in her hometown of Arlington, Texas. Like many of us, Leslei didn't have much growing up. Times were hard for her and her siblings throughout their childhood. Being the oldest child in her family meant taking on more responsibilities than her younger siblings. Part of that responsibility was ensuring her siblings never lacked, no matter their circumstances, whether in mini shopping sprees for them or quality family time.

Leslei is currently majoring in Behavior Analysis with a focus on Criminal Justice. What sparked her interest was her experience with the Santa Cop Program run by the Arlington Police Department. They allowed Leslei and her siblings to enjoy multiple Christmases by providing gifts for her family and many other community members. These moments of seeing the Arlington Police Department serving her family have made her want to become the most outstanding FBI agent ever. Through her studies of the behavioral world and individuals who commit violent crimes, she hopes to understand why people turn to violence and attempt to end it wherever she is. One of the things Leslei would do if she had all the resources would be to make it America's #1 priority to end mass shootings, serial killings, and human trafficking.

We commend Leslei's ambition in seeing that she plays an integral part in improving the world, regardless of her past experiences. We all have similarities in our experiences, and through sharing them, we see how they teach us how we're alike and provide insight into how we want to be treated and treat others. We are excited about what the future holds for Leslei, and we know she will make a difference that reflects similarly in the people that follow her trailblazing path to greatness.
